TRAINING WORKSHOP

OPEN has been established to assist professionals who are actively seeking new employment opportunities. We provide extensive five-day outplacement training workshop (½ days), which offer help on job search strategies, network building, letter and resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, skills analysis, and more. These workshops require NO FEE to attend.

You are invited to attend our next five-day interactive workshop!

"Strategies for a Successful Job Search"

The next Training Workshop will be:

Monday, October 25, 2010 through Friday, October 29, 2010.

Daily Workshop Hours are from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Please allocate this amount of time.

Plan on arriving to the EDD office located at 980 Enchanted Way in Simi Valley by 8:30am on Monday, October 25, 2010, and bring several copies of your resume if you have one, for review during the course.

  • EDD membership Requirements
  • How to keep a positive Attitude
  • Budgeting for Unemployment - Some thoughts
  • What do you really want to be when you grow up?
  • What do you enjoy best, and what is your passion?
  • How to write a story about a good day at work
  • Write down the things that bugged you about work

  • Read the Poison Pen notes from day 1
  • How to answer the "Tell Me About Yourself(TMAY)" question
  • How to recognize an Accomplishment
  • Look at your stories and extract an accomplishment
  • How to write a strong, targeted resume

  • A Review of Resume preparation
  • How to use the phone to get past the roadblocks
  • A/V Speakers required for presentation

  • VHS Tape, VCR and speakers required
  • Mock Interview exercise
  • Maintain that positive Attitude
  • Commit to an Action Plan

Questions and comments are encouraged throughout the Training Workshop, and OPEN Presenters and Members will be available for individual assistance.

Upon Graduation you will have use of all the facilities of the OPEN Center to help you find your next job. In exchange you will be requested to volunteer at least 16 hours per month in an area where your skills and background can help other members best.

Resources at the OPEN Center include Personal Computers with Internet connections, Laser Printers and FAX machines, photocopier, phone banks ( calls to anywhere in the continental US ) and access to job listing for State, Federal, City, County, University, School Districts and Health Care Industries.
